🌎 What is MemorixApps PhotoMap?
A photo map app — use it on your phone to take photos and pin them to the map based on GPS location. When done, export to a folder to save your photos and GPS data. On a computer, open the app and import that folder to view and explore your photo map. Photos are stored locally in your browser and survive page refreshes automatically — no account or internet needed.
📷 Uploading Photos
↑ Gallery — Pick photos from your gallery. On Android the GPS is stripped by the system, so your current location is used instead.
📷 Camera — Take a photo directly in the app. The GPS from the photo itself is used — most accurate on mobile. Only shown on mobile devices.
🌍 My location — Pre-captures your GPS before uploading. Tap this first if you want gallery photos tagged to your current position.
💡 Tip: On PC, drag and drop photos directly onto the map. Photos from your camera keep their GPS in the EXIF data and are placed automatically.
📁 Projects
Tap the 📁 Project ▾ button to create, switch, or delete projects. Each project stores its own set of photos independently. Type a name and press Create or hit Enter.
Photos are saved automatically in your browser using IndexedDB — they survive page refreshes and browser restarts. The last active project is remembered and restored on next open.
🗑 Clear removes all photos from the current project only. Other projects are untouched. The Default project cannot be deleted.
📷 Viewing Photos
🔍 View photo — Each photo in the Photos panel (PC) has a View photo button. Click it to open the photo full-size in a new tab. Also available in every map popup — click the thumbnail or the button.
In the full-size viewer, click the photo to toggle between fit-to-screen and actual full resolution.
💾 Export & Import
💾 Export — Saves a
.txt file with GPS coordinates and filenames, plus all the photos, into a folder you choose. Use this to back up or transfer your map to another device.📥 Import — Select the folder exported from your phone or another session to restore all photos and their map locations. GPS is matched from the
.txt list, or read from EXIF if available.💡 Tip: Keep the exported folder intact — renaming or moving files inside it may break GPS matching on import. Filenames can also change if you share photos via messenger apps.
📤 Exporting & Sharing Files
When exporting from your phone, avoid sharing pictures through messaging apps such as Messenger. These apps may alter file names, which can cause GPS mapping to fail on import.
Recommended transfer process:
- Export your images to a folder on your phone.
- Move the files to a cloud storage service such as OneDrive, Google Drive, or similar.
- Do the same for the associated
.txtfile. - On your PC, import directly from that cloud folder — or compress (zip) it first and transfer to any PC running the app.
⚠ Privacy notice: After import, your images will contain embedded GPS location data. Handle and share these files with caution.
🌐 Map Controls
Tap a cluster to zoom in and see individual photo pins. Tap a pin to open its popup — showing the photo, name, date, coordinates, and a View photo button.
Switch between OpenStreetMap, Terrain, and Dark map styles using the selector in the top bar.
The Photos tab lists all uploaded photos with a View button on PC. The Timeline tab groups them by date. Tap any photo to jump to its location on the map.
